I set the timezone in the config
Code:
timezone -1 dst 4

that means MET and dst of type 4.

When trying to set the local date, I set GMT with -u and I expect the date will show my local time properly:
Code:
Welcome to 4.4BSD-Lite!

erase ^H, kill ^U, intr ^C status ^T
Don't login as root, use the su command.
# date
Sat Oct 10 14:58:47 PDT 2015
# date -u 1510170837.30              <<<<<<<<<<< GMT
Sat Oct 17 08:37:30 GMT 2015
# date
Sat Oct 17 01:37:40 PDT 2015      <<<<<<<<<<<< it is not MET (GMT+2)
#

Code:
erase ^H, kill ^U, intr ^C status ^T
Don't login as root, use the su command.
# date
Sat Oct 10 14:58:55 PDT 2015
# date -u 1510170848.30 -t -60 -d 4
Sat Oct 17 08:48:30 GMT 2015
# date
Sat Oct 17 01:48:39 PDT 2015
#

:? I did it manually:
Code:
# ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/MET /etc/localtime
# date
Sat Oct 17 10:10:16 MET 2015
# date -u
Sat Oct 17 09:10:28 GMT 2015
#

or
Code:
# export TZ="MET"

Now, how to set dst..

I updated the European timezones: daylight rules had changed since 4.4bsd release. See commit 4c0590f. Now it seems to work correctly:
Code:
# TZ=CET
# export TZ
# date
Sun Oct 18 22:23:18 CEST 2015
#

As for RetroBSD, the recent version (rev417) should have the timezone files updated.
