Hi all,
I read about the PDP-11 in Byte magazine, I already knew the PDP-8 which was used at work, and in 1979 I had bought my first computer, a 6502 SBC (SYM-1). I loved the 6502 (still do) but there was an envy for a PDP11 that was not possible to stench (at least in a reasonable way).

I bought recently an Olimex PIC32-RetroBSD with the aim to simulate a PDP11 and drive the PDP-11 Blikenlight command panel designed by Oscar Vermeulen. The simulation software would be aPout, a PDP11 simulation software that I adapted for making use of the command panel. I do not want to use SIMH.

But I do not understand how to transfer the sources files to the PIC32-RetroBSD. I could do it manually through the serial line, but it would be quite awkward. I spent several days trying to find how this would be doable, without any success.

Please, can you make some suggestion to help me transfer those source files from my Ubuntu box to the little RetroBSD?

Many thanks,

Jean-Pierre

Serial is really all there is. Personally I find Kermit is the best way of communicating with RetroBSD.

We did several exercises in past with Zmodem (search this forum), and it works as well.

Off topic:

You may try with PDP-8 too:

There is a PDP-11 port available on Cmod A7-35T

The design is FPGA proven, runs currently on Digilent Arty, Basys3, CmodA7, Nexys4, Nexys3, Nexys2 and S3board boards and boots 5th Edition UNIX and 2.11BSD UNIX.

I built my first SBC in '82 (8085), and acquired my first MOS 6502 (plus 2x 6522) on Saturday last weekend.. Back to the roots..
:) :)
