As the uart driver is fixed now, can we run more uarts (and spi’s) in parallel?
-p

Yes, we can: up to six users on a time-shared system with 128k of memory. :)

Console driver should be extended to use different UART base addresses for different tty units.

Not yet. Check your email. IRQ handler has problems.

As a good compromise we need 2 uarts for two users, freely chosen from uart1-6. Also the baudrates higher then 115k.

When BSD 2.11 was around the first time, a connection at 300 baud via modem was considered normal. 115,200 is fine with me. :-)

The speeds higher than 115k are not required because of our speedy typing, indeed, but for file transfers. Hopefuly, there will be an utility for the filetransfer (x-y-zmodem or something like that which fits into), thus we may upload our applications easily. The fsutils works, but you need to manipulate with sdcard, which is not good.

If any protocol is going to be implemented it shouldn't be one of those dinosaurs. In Fidonet days we already had Megalink which killed them for speed. Anyhow, once ethernet is running, who needs it?

Ethernet to implement takes time.. And to compile a filetranfer utility may take minutes, for somebody who knows how. And we may not tackle the ethernet hw, though. Keep it simple as possible..
